A Divine Encounter with Jesus

“Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.”

Luke 8:38-39

We are all familiar with this story. The Bible records that this man was afflicted by many demons for a long time. His situation was so bad that other mad men in his vicinity were scared of him.

However, his life changed forever, when he had an encounter with the Lord Jesus. As believers, our take-away from this glorious story are self evident:

  • Impossibilities and afflictions precede miracles. His afflictions were a preparation for his miracle when he had his divine encounter with Jesus. Luke 8:27. Whatever your situation is at the moment, do not lose hope for your miracle is on the way. 2 Corinthians 4:17
  • When he met Jesus, he reached out to him. As part of that reaching out, he cried out loud for Jesus to hear him. Luke 8:28.  For that bad situation to go away, you need to reach out to Jesus and cry out loud for Him to hear and intervene. Spend quality time in the place of prayer.  Hebrews 11:6; Mark 5:28
  • After his divine encounter with Jesus, he became healed. Luke 8:33; Mark 5:34. One divine encounter will change your life forever. Are you currently positioned for a divine encounter? Genesis 3:9
  • Others saw him and began to talk about his testimony. You will be a testimony and amazement to your generation. Luke 8:34-35

As you read and meditate on this story today, ponder on the following:

  • Do you have a relationship with Jesus? If you do not, it is not too late to give your life to Him. One divine encounter with the Lord Jesus will change your life forever. If you do, take your relationship to a higher level
  • Are you facing an impossible situation? Do not despair as Jesus is still in the business of doing miracles. Turn over that situation to him and your life will never be the same again. Luke 1:37
